When this mom reached out about a family photography session, she knew exactly what she wanted: a backyard hose and sprinkler session that captured her kids just as they are right now.

Not posed. Not perfectly coordinated. Not everyone looking at the camera and smiling on cue.

She wanted to remember their personalities, their energy, their laughter, and the little things that make their family uniquely theirs. And honestly, those are some of my favorite sessions to photograph.

As a Canton, GA family photographer, I love when families choose to document their everyday personalities instead of trying to turn their session into something it isn’t. This family isn’t a “smile at the camera” kind of family—and that’s perfectly okay! Their connection, silliness, and genuine interactions are what make their photos meaningful.

So we took the session outside and let the kids be kids.

There was music blasting, running around, playing with the hose, getting completely soaked, and a whole lot of laughing. By the end of the session, everyone was wet, happy, and having the best time.

And that’s exactly what Mom wanted.
