These sessions are THE BEST.  They are so very quickly becoming my favorite.

I categorize myself as a lifestyle photographer.  If you have ever had a session with me, I am consistently telling my clients to “interact with each other”, “don’t look at me”, “I don’t want your poses, I want your emotion and your memories”.  Do I love a good posed photo with everyone looking at the camera?  Of course.  However, 9 times out of 10, those aren’t the ones the client end up hanging on a wall.

In home lifestyle sessions are something I am passionate about.  I am able to capture the most natural photos of a family when they are in their own environment.  I get so many comments and messages after I post one of these sessions.  People love them, but then it is followed with, “My house isn’t that pretty”.  Let me tell you something, your house doesn’t need to look like a model home, it needs to look like YOUR HOUSE.  If you did one of these sessions, you want your kids to look back someday and remember the house they lived in, not the one you think is perfect for photos.  Leave the toys scattered on the floor, leave the coffee cups on the counters, scatter those balls and princess dresses.  OR, if you’d rather, shove everything in cabinets and in closets and deal with it later!

This client reached out because she wanted to capture what she calls “our sweet spot in life”.  The time in life where the days are long, but the years are oh-so short.  I’m in this same spot in my life, and I get it.  Luckily, I’m able to capture it (although I’m never in my photos).

I’d say we successfully caught this sweet spot. We snuggled, laughed, danced, made pancakes, played dress-up, read books, and painted nails. What more could you ask for?
